Good rocking is half asleep: Baby rockers in the test
Electric baby swings are becoming increasingly popular, but how useful is their purchase? The practical test reveals the advantages and disadvantages of conventional baby rockers and electric baby swings.
Many babies can only fall asleep when they are rocked or rocked, others can only be calmed by gently weighing them. As nice as it is to weigh your baby in the arm, it can be quite exhausting in the long run. Electric baby cribs promise a welcome remedy.
But: Doctors warn that babies should not be allowed to sleep in baby-sitters because that's bad for the spine in the long run. More than 20 to 30 minutes at a time, a baby should not sit in a seesaw - with or without an electric motor.
In addition to help falling asleep baby bob are especially useful because the baby is safe in it, because it is strapped with a belt. So you can also spend a few minutes on other things in the household.
Little babies can not get their own momentum going, so electric rockers are basically a good idea. They usually have different rocker and swing programs, which can also be adjusted in intensity. Some also vibrate or play music or sounds on request, almost all have a bow with toys or a mobile.
However, electric rockers cost significantly more than their mechanical sisters: between 100 and 200 euros you usually have to spend for an electric. And: the electric baby swings can usually be used only up to a weight of nine kilos, so for about the first six months. On the other hand, many mechanical baby rockers can be used much longer, usually up to a weight of 13 kilos or one to three years old.
Test winner BabyBjörn and Joie Serina
But which rockers are recommended? To find out, the test portal AllesBeste took seven conventional rockers and six electric baby swings under the magnifying glass. The best conventional seesaw in the test was BabyBjörn's Balance Soft. Not only did she rock the best - not a matter of course, because many test candidates only moved imperceptibly - but she also folds up well and is therefore easy to stow away and transportable.
In the electric baby swings, however, the Joie Serina 2in1 performed best. It can be operated with batteries as well as at the socket, but also works without power, the removable tub as a normal rocker. No other baby swing in the test could do that.
